4-cyl Interference engine?

Post by waterdrop »

I have a 92 4-cyl MX-3 W/144000 Miles. Is this engine an "interference" engine, i.e., if I forget to replace the timing belt on time (define on time?) the piston will meet the valves?
Thanks

No that motor is a non-interference engine, you can throw a timing belt and not bend a vavle. I've done it before, you just loose all compression until you replace the timing belt.
