Gotta a Question about my BP

Post by Joe Carlson »

hey i pulled out my new bp out of a 91 escort today, and hope to be putting it into my mx-3 pretty soon. But i noticed a few minor differences from the bp I had in there before, like the fuel rail, on the pro lx bp, the fuel inlet and return are right be side each other, and on the excort they're on opposite ends. I wasn't sure i could just swap the fuel rails. and i'm definatly changing that valve cover. Also can everything from the escort change over like from the Protege LX? Thanks for any help.

Thanks-Joe

hey i also have issues with my speedometer, the escort uses a smaller cable and hooks up differently, and has a sensor on the side of it. I thought i would just beable to use the whole speedometer cable, but the other end doesn't look like it'll plug into my gauge. I took the end out of the transmission and took the one of of my protege dx tranny, and it won't fit all the way down in there because the speedometer gear is a different size due to the different gear ratios. if anyone can help me please do, i'm trying to get this done this weekend, i've got everything ready to drop in i just need some info.

Thanks-Joe

it is the bp tranny that came out of the escort. Its really funny, b/c i've torn down 3 pro lx, and 2 pro dx, and i've never seen a sensor on the side of the cable. but i think i have to use the speedo cable from the escort and it might work. I would just use my pro dx tranny i had before, but i had a new clutch for that bp tranny, and i like the lower gear ratio.

that sensor is for cruise control on cars that use a cable speedo gear.
Fast imports only come on two wheels.

Yeah i know it's a cable drivin speedo, but the end that the cable goes into is different from the mx3's, and the cable from the ford doesn't look like it'll plug into the back of my intrument panel, but i'm going to try that today, i already switched the fuel rails, and am actually driving it right now just with out a speedometer. Thanks for the help.

Hey if anybody is still interested i have a complete bp, but just all torn down. And i have a pro Dx Tranny, with brand new cv axles, and a bunch of different odds and ends, including a complete engine out of my mx-3, and it ran great.

Thanks-Joe
