the motor will work but the tranny wont, you'll need a protege lx or escort gt tranny. If you can find an ecu that would be awesome but chances are slim so you might have to run a standalone which costs more than your motor and tranny most likely and you have to solder all the wires, etc. not fun. You have alot of planning to do, i would suggest alot of research before you go ahead and go through with it.Peace

umm i think you can buy a reprogrammed ecu for the bpt, i'm not positive but last i heard corksport did it. I'm not positive about the intercooler but you can buy a front mount and then shave the front bumper so you have the clearance. And as far as anything else for the motor, just make sure you get the mounts you need, may want a better fuel pump, etc. Also i'm not too positive on if your shifter linkage will clear, but its an easy fix.Peace

since you have the sohc motor originally all you need is the protege ecu and then get the knock sensor and hook it up. someone on here finally got a safc tuned somewhat to the bpt so get one of those and get the settings from them and you should be fine. dont get the reprogrammed ecu its not going to run right.

It looks like I am going to become your new best friend. I used a protege gearbox out of a 94 and I know all the mounts that you need. You're lucky because you can basically just drop the engine in and 95% of the stuff just plugs right in. You have to change a couple of ends but its no big deal. I got my intercooler out of a saab 9-3 turbo and it fits awesome. I had to get the end tanks custom made but that wasent a big deal. I am running the bpt off the mx-3 ecu and I changed the fuel settings with an apexi SAFC 2. Plus I had it on a dyno so I have the exact settings that youll need for it. You should look me up on msn or something if you need some more info. I had to find everything out the hard way so I dont think that I will ever forget it. :p

You can look me up on msn if you have it. frankryan_00@hotmail.com

Ohh and dont even bother calling corksport because they dont know up from down. I called them once and they told me I needed a protege tranny so I got it. Then when I was putting it in the car and trying to hook the speedo cable up I called them again and they were like "You could have used your stock gearbox, We have done it" I was like "arent you the same guy who told me to buy a protege gearbox a month ago" It totally was.. Dont ever bother calling them man, they dont know $hit!
