Intake Question
Intake Question
Hey,
I have a quick question, probably just myself being stupid as it was midnight when I was looking at it however. I went to put on my intake last night. I see where I would have to make cuts to allow it to fit, start disconnecting the stock air box and MAF. Then I noticed on the pipe coming from throttlebody that their are 2 holes into the pipe. (94 RS) and on the intake pipe their is only 1 for the pvc. My question is what do I do for the other hole? Any suggestions would be great.
I was after working a 12 hr shift and was tired so I just removed the air box and tossed the air filter onto the MAF works fine but I would rather remove all the stock pipe as it is old.
Thanks for any help. If pics are needed I could get them tonight.
Sorry about such a newbie question however I didn't look at it today and just got back at work now for another 10hrs+ thought I throw out question see if anyone could help. And yes I did search.

Re: Intake Question
also i got the two piece GSR intake that is what I started with. Not sure if it makes a difference. It's isn't 3" so I might run into a problem it's like 2.5"
is the one piece GSR intake 3"?
is the one piece GSR intake 3"?
Re: Intake Question
sorry that wasn't very clear
on the stock piping coming from the throttle body their are 2 smaller pieces coming off it. The first going to the pvc on motor and the second I never noticed where?
my question is the pipe I got to use only has the one hole for the pvc. My question is what do I do about the second one

Re: Intake Question
well if your talkin about what I think but I have no clue to be honest hahah One peice of tubing goes to the motor. You do not need to use this for your intake just get a mini breather thing or some means of allowing air to pass through but you dont want to leave it open. THe other tube goes to the mass air flow sensor which is the one you need to plug into the hole on the intake. It runs from this little box thing and will have to be plugged into your intake to allow you to run your car. As for the other one like I said filter it up somehow get some pantyhose or something lol. The GSR intake should be 3 inches in diameter. I have never seen an intake less than 3 inches but hey I have only seen the civic and integras ones. i have an integra one on my car now and it is 3 inches. Hope that helps a bit ill check back to see if thats what u needed to know.
Re: Intake Question
The 2nd one is for the BAC.. Basically it controls your idel. It needs filtered air unless you want crap getting into your motor.
i wouldnt go over 2.5 size wise.. you will lose to much velocity.
Edit: Using a breather for either item will allow unmetered air to enter into the engine and will cause a lean condition.

Re: Intake Question
now i have a question, the one hose that goes to the intake pipe and to the motor, is that the one that you can buy the little filters for ?

Re: Intake Question
As simple as it may sound this is a very difficult question to answer. There are a great sum of diffrent causes and effects that come into play and because of this i will say its a bad thing. Primarly because it causes a deviation from proper operation.Originally posted by m92_MX3:

Yes, but as i stated ealier, this can cause a lean condition by bringing in unmetered air.Originally posted by m92_MX3:
