Swapping motor on a 93 1.6L MX-3

Hi im wondering which mazda engine should i swap with my friends 93 MX-3 4cyl 1.6L. He is looking to put a mazda 626 turbo engine in it. Would that fit.....is it compatable.

Would i need to switch me Cars computer too???
Any advice would help.

no.

Not worth it.

Plenty of info on the site about several available swaps though.

1.8L BP-Turbo
1.8L BP
1.6L B6T


Those will be your best choices fow your 4-cyl.

Before you ask anymore questions-- just flip through the posts and all of your questions will be answered.

i changed an engine a few times before but not with a different engine. Would i have to change the cpu or just the engine??? Will the tranny be compatible??

What about the engine of the same year
130-hp, 1.8-liter V-6

would that fit good....would i have to change the cpu??

no-- you should not go from a 4-cyl to a V6. The 1.8L BP has about 125 HP and will be a DIRECT bolt in for you. The BP-Turbo puts down around 190 or so in stock form.

If you decided to get the v6-- you may as well go for the gusto and do the 2.5L KLZE Swap. It will cost you about the same after everything is said and done-- but you would have 200 HP instead of 130.

Which car and from what year range can you get the 1.8L BP engine??? Will i just have to swap the engine and thats it because that i can do, or will i have to convert other things like the ECU etc???

Ok, I hope you didn't ask this question to DJ, because then I got some turbocharged lawn mower for sale you might be interested in.

I.E. a rotary will not fit in mx-3 with out mucho dinero.
