Post by Downsville »

hey guys, i just changed my oil on the weekend, i went to regular castrol instead of the high mileage that i was using, but i also put in some of that Lucas Oil Stabilizer, but ever since my car will puff white smoke out the exhaust when i start it up, but it only lasts about 20 seconds. any thought, please dont say its the head gasket, lol

The only thing I can think of is coolant leaking through the head gasket. Check your coolant level.

or for some reason a lot of water is getting in through your intake.......

if its whita and only lasts that long its perfectly ok its just moisture in the exaust, every car does it.

its not the valve seals that would be Blue smoak not white. and if were a coolent leak it would smoak all the time even after being warm.

My 1994 RS has been smoking blue smoke during startup here in the cold weather like 35 degrees or under so I went to the store and got a can of Restore 4 cyl formula and a bottle of Prolong and dumped the mix in the crankcase and no sign of smoke anymore. I think that may have fixed my problem for a while. It must the the rings that need replacing.

its just white smoke, but its a hell of a lot of smoke. and no, it doesnt stink, and theres no sign of antifreeze in the oil, so i dont think its the headgasket
