Rear Defroster Question..PLLLLEEASE HELP!

Post by MX3GiRL95 »

Hey guys, maybe you can help me out. I know this question has been asked time and time again, but does anyone know what's wrong with my rear defroster. My rear defroster light doesn't even go on. I am thinking that maybe its a fuse and it can be fixed really easily but I can't seem to figure out what fuse it is. If anyone knows, could you please respond! Thanks much.

i'm having the exact same problem. look closely at the defrost lines on the hatch. if there is a break in the wire it can cause the whole defrost to fail. i didnt find any fuses for the rear defrost at all. there is a repair kit you can get at canadian tire (wouldnt know where in the states), that should fix the problem..im trying it out soon myself so ill post relults.

Please post that result on the Read Defrost. I am in North York and my R.D. works but like crap. It does a 2'X2' section in the middle of the hatch and then just the lines. Also does anyone else have a fogging problem in their car?
Thanks,

There does seem to be a bad problem with windows fogging up on the MX3.
As far as the RD, I've found that if the hatch has a coverage of snow it actually defrosts better that if it was just a layer of ice.
Also, if you've had tint put on your hatch, check to make sure the tint guy hasn't Cut through any of the heating filaments. The tint guy at my work did it on one of his first tint jobs with a Taurus wagon and it cost a crap-load to replace.

BTW...There SHOULDN'T be cuts even close to these filaments because from what I remember they don't reach that far to the edge, and the tint Should be cut about 1/16th to 1/8th of an inch beyond the black border around the glass.
