Exhaust and Intakes

Post by Redlined »

Ok This has probably been asked many times before but I can not seem to find the answers ANYWHERE! Can the intake for a V6 mx3 fit the dohc inline 4? and I am looking to get an exhaust system made up at a shop here but I was told to ask around to see what other motors are like the mx-3 DOHC so they would know what specs to go by so my car will not burn oil. I dont really know what that means but if anyone can help me PLEASE do so! thanx!

um i wouldt try to fit the v6 intake on the 4 , just buy an intake for the 4 or make one yourslef it would be cheaper.
as for the exhuast, i would use 2" piping and anytype of muffler like a flow master 50 series or something

if you plan on turboing the car or anything go much higher than 2" either 2.5 or 3 depending on how much power you plan to get. Best to plan ahead...

Also I am looking into getting headers for my car. Does anyone know if any are available. I cant seem to find the bullfrog ones listed on the site. I am going straight pipe at 2.25" should I take off the cat or leave it? I need help lol

I would leave your cat on for sure, it creates very little restriction but if you were to take it off it would cause a lot of unessecary pollution plus if they check emmissions where you are you will never pass. Also, go with 2in diameter piping, anything bigger and you will lose a lot of bottom end torque. A while back someone said they bought a set of headers for a 1.6L protege and that it bolted right up, do a search of the 4cyl forum and you can can probably find the post. Good luck.

INTAKE OPTIONS!!! :) The best one in my opinion is to buy a bomex brand intake off ebay for 30 sum bux. Get the one for integra, cut it up and it works perfectly!! Check mine out on my car domain page...

I've got pics of it on there. Good luck :)

I will tell you now that if you have a stock 1.6L engine, with a 2.25" exhaust all the way back, you will be actually losing power. I would stick with 2", I know its not much of a difference but still. And keep your cat. Especially if you have emissions.

ya like i said before use the 2 inch piping, cause you dont want a huge pipe cause you dont need it.
as for the intake try a custom one if you do it right it will be cheaper and you will be proud of yourself lol :D

Alright, So im gonna use the 2 inch piping and hopefully ill get some good results. About the intake I can not find one anywhere so I went up and bought some pipe today and I am gonna make one.. lol any tips? haha. Around how much should I expect to be charged to get the 2 inch exhaust made up? (not including a new cat or muffler)
