Crankshaft timing pulley slippage/Timing

I was getting terrible mileage out of my MX-3/1.6 L enging. No one could figure it out and the lame brains at Mazda Customer service and the dealerships said that it was normal for this car to only get 22 MPG. I said BS to that. Finally found someone worth his salt. Wolf,Foreign Auto Service in New Brighton PA. He found that the timing slipped because the timing pulley off the crank that drives the timing belt slipped over 11 degrees due to a rubber center shock absorber slipping on that pulley.<p>That should do it...I hope!<p>[ September 17, 2003: Message edited by: agomonaco ]</p>

I think you would have a few more problems than m/g if your timing belt slipped haha try complete engine failure. and it would never slip it has big freakin teeth on it your mechanic either adjusted your timing or replaced the PCV valve and charged you a fortune
