acceleration problems

Hi, my car which is a mazda mx-3, 1994 dohc, it's fuel injected. Alright my problem is when i put the petal down a little or alot it hesitates very bad before it actually accelerates. Do u know what the problem would be, like the intake the fuel injection or what? THANX

It sounds to me like the problem is an automatic tranny with low hp, is your tranny automatic?
