Turbo Engine???

Post by PSE95 »

Hello, I am new to MX-3's I don't even have one, but I am very interested in purchasng one. Now, I have a 95 Ford Probe and I love it! I was looking for another car to keep in the garage and work on over the months and I fell in love with MX-3. Anyway, I want to some info first hand (I already searched) about the turbo engine. I was thinkin about buying a crappy mx-3 and working from there. I just need to know whether 4 cylinder turbo is better than the KL-ZE for GS models. I need opinions, thank you! -JD

I would have to say that the KL-ZE is a better selection, Mainly because a V6 naturally has more Torque than a I4. And on the top of that, with a Turbo 4cyl vs a V6 non turbo at the same HP, the V6 would defenatly win, because of the Turbo lag and lower amount of torque.

it's based on preference. do you want turbo or n/a? do you have a budget you want to stay under? with the turbo motor, you can reach higher numbers cheaper than with a n/a motor. true, you have lag but with the right set-up, it's minimal. you can get a mx3 4cyl cheaper than a v6. the turbo motors are cheaper than the ze(though with the bpt, more parts are needed which equals it out a bit)
Fast imports only come on two wheels.

For doing a swap, if you want the B6T or BPT, get the RS... if you want the KL-ZE, get the GS.

i like the 4cyl for mods. the four and the six are not that far apart in horsepower. the four has a lot of free space under the hood that alows you to do just about anything want to the engine with out having to make space.
