car maikng weird noise when idle or in reverse

my mx-3 is making a weird noise when in idle or reverse. it sounds like the engine is strugling to work or something the sound is really weird i thought maybe some of my belts or something could be loose but they arent maybe a tune up would fix it ? any adivce or input on this would be great

I BET IT'S READING AT ABOUT 300 TO 600 RPM CORRECT. MY 93 MX-3 DID THE SAME THING. I FIXED IT BY ADJUSTING THE IDLE UNDER THE HOOD WITH A FLAT HEADED SCREW DRIVER. NOW I'M IDLEING AT ABOUT 1,500 RPM. ADVANTAGES:<BR>CAR EXHAUST SOUNDS GOOD, AND I GET A FASTER TAKE OFF....

ya i fixed it by putting on a new custom exhast maybe that was the whole problem ?<BR>thank you for your answer
