Rear brakes locking?

Post by mmonid »

Whenever I put the parking brake on, leave the car for several hours, get back in, release the parking brake, and start to go, I will hear 2 pops coming from the back brakes. Could it be a bit of corrosion between the shoes and the drum, or is something not quite right back there? When driving along, the car does not seem to drag, so I am not too worried about it. Just a little annoying.

Check your calipers, I had a similar problem with one of my brakes. The caliper could be wearing out and causing your brakes to lock. When ever my e brake was on for a while the one side would lock up until I drove for a bit.

don't use your hand brake when it's -20oC outside!
