Running rough, no power.

Post by Raivynn »

Well, got my car back earlier this week, and now I'm having trouble again. The distributor was at fault before, and now it's showing similar symptoms, but the car still runs. She says, "sput sput sput sput vroom! sput sput sput!" She runs, but not like she's supposed to. She ticks now, and the ticking IS connected to the rpm's; almost sounds like another bad spark plug -- but the plugs are brand spankin' new. I thought wires, but they were tested not even 100 miles ago, and they're still good.
You can hear the roughness through the exhaust as well, if that means anything. The whole engine just...thumps. Very weird.
Also, belts are "whirring" in a repeating loop. Belts too tight/loose?
I've been trying to get a hold of my mechanic, but one thing I NEED to know -- is it safe to drive???
Thanks for the continued help and support.
Rai.

Well, had cylinder #1 wire test at over 10kohms. Figured it was a bad wire -- cylinder 1 was dead, so there's the lack of power. The plug itself was black, and since it was new, I figured just clean it and put it back in. Should run fine. Gonna order new wires from CorkSport, and hope they run all right. Hopefully they will. This should solve my problem, and she should be good to go for years...
