Has anyone else heard this same noise

I get this squeeky noise when i start my car up in the morning and let it heat up. <BR>I believe its the belt, I took it to a shop to have them look at it. and they told me it would cost about $180 because of the type of car i have, and my friend had the same problem and it cost her like $20 can somebody give me any advice to what the problem is. <P>95 mx-3<BR>Jamie [img]shrug.gif"%20border="0[/img]

it was happening with me latley. i put off starting it and looking around under the hood. on tues. the alt. belt broke. it was $60 to replace, i dunno y i didn't do it myself! the belt was 20, the labor was 40. 40 bucks to slap a belt on 2 pulleys!!!

Just a suggestion, but try cleaning the belts with a bar of soap, just be really careful! don't get ur fingers or aything else caught in there when doing this.<BR>lates [img]shrug.gif"%20border="0[/img]

Yo,<BR> I'm here in Virginia and every afternoon after school get's out, I start my car up and it lets out that same squeek. Today I clocked it for 45 seconds before I stopped because I was getting some funny looks. Anyway, I've been told it was the belt to. It only does it when I start the car and have the fan turned on. When I turn the fan off, the squeek stops. I may try soaping it up.<BR> Mike<BR> 1993 Laguna Blue mx-3
