LOWERING CAR

Post by simon »

All of the springs for the 4cyl mx are no more than 1.5 or 1.6 inch drop. How much does the ground control coilovers drop the car? What is the best way to lower your car like 3 inches?

Hello,
Go with ground control. I like their kit the best. All you need to do is when you lower the car adjust the kit to about halfway down and have it aligned. That way if you go either up or down your alignment wont be off by much at all. The kit is really easy to install. You need a spring compressor and a 17mm socketwrench. Have fun!
quote:
Originally posted by simon:
All of the springs for the 4cyl mx are no more than 1.5 or 1.6 inch drop. In all honesty you would be dumb to drop it more then like 2.5" and even that is low. You bottom out over everything if you went 3" and I don't even know if that is possible, plus it will look dumb

A spring compressor is used to squish the spring so you can take it off the strut. You can rent it at most local auto supply stores. I think I am lowered about 2 and a half inches. If you could take a measurement from the grount to the lip of your fender I can let you know exactly how low mine is. If you need any help lemme know. It was a pretty easy install. Also if you are going to do it you might as well get strut tower braces.
quote:
Originally posted by simon:
CJTHOR, what is a spring compressor? also how many inches is your car lowered, cuz thats the look im going for.

Please don't try to take out your springs if you've never done it before.
If you don't like the spring drops, do the Ground Control.
Best bet and you can raise it if the cops bust you for lowering your ride.
RF

also, if you do anything below 1.5", you will want to get new struts and shocks. granted, you don't have to, but it's recommended. it improves ride quality and you bottom out on your suspention. tokico and kyb have some pretty good ones. but if you just replaced yours or they are still in real good condition, you won't have to worry about it for a while.
