HELP!!! Rear drum brake has locked up!

Post by simo711 »

Hey you all. I have a friend who has a mx-3 and the rear brake drum on the passenger side has locked or something and won't move. Does anyone know what the hell happened? Is there anything I can do to look for or try to fix this problem. Thanks, Chris

sounds like the e-brake cable is freezing up. try tugging on the cable pretty hard from underneath the car near the rear wheel. should fix for a bit.

I had the same problem. The e-brake is a bit of a problem, it gets progressivly worse and you don't really notice it until it's too late. You will have to take the drum and hub off, release and lubricate the e-brake lever inside the drum to fix it properly. You might even have to heat up the lever.<P>Pete
