Your talking about how you can't run the engine in the red line, right?
That would be your rev limiter. I believe its computer controlled. There is no point running in the engine in the red line (most of the torque is gone by then) and its just bad for the car. But if you want it removed most auto shops will do it from $20-$40.
Elena, don't misunderstand. A pro isn't someone who sacrifices themselves for their job. That is just a fool.

It would be kinda pointless to remove a rev limiter...MX-3's don't have speed limiters, so shift when you're supposed to

Put more Air Flow in, as in Turbos with too much boost. Beat the car to hell. Put tooo much NOS in your car and so on. There is lot of ways, don't worry of that. Best I have seen, make the engine run, and break the oil pan, like entering in a "stop" sign. The engine will be emptied of its oil, and, if lucky, no more engine..
Well, the best question would have been how to keep your engine in great shape. ;) That's might be the hardest thing to do.
