12 sec. 1/4 mile????

Post by Shady469 »

Seriously, is there anyway to get a steet legal Mx-3 under 12 sec.? Would turbo and nitrous even push it that fast? Would getting the B6T engine and upgrading do the trick? and how in the hell did Abel Ibarra (runs at 174 mph) fit the 13B rotary turbo in his Mx-3???

Well, there is a Festiva with a B6T engine on Octobers issue of Sport Compact Car. It runs 13.3 in 1/4 mile.

it is very possible. if you get the weight down alot and turbocharge the s@#t out of it. then you are talking about a heavily modified engine that is very expensive to keep streetable. the clutch, transmission and axles are another story.<p>[This message has been edited by boostedmx (edited September 09, 2001).]

Call me crazy, chicken, whatever, but I would think that doing 174MPH in a car as lite and small as an MX-3 would be terrifying (especially without a rollcage and 5-point harness)! The car has such a short wheelbase that it would be very unstable (turns too quickly...probably causing a spinout or crash into a wall).

It is possible with the b6t. There are 2 or 3, 323GTXs running around with serious work done to them. These cars are generally using a TEC-II, big injectors, T28 or greater turbo, etc. Usually putting close to +300hp to the wheels. You shouldn't have to lighten the car much. Pull the back seat out, remove a few parts. Cam's Festiva weighs 1700lbs, about 750lbs lighter than the mx-3. The mods he has done to the b6t are fairly minor.

Try 10 seconds.......Dave Lauzier's(Mtl) Mx3 is said to be in the 10s range.......his car has the 323 gt-r engine and pumps out about 600-700hp.......I doubt he uses it as a daily driver anymore although i know it was a daily driver when he was in the 11 second range...if i remember corrrectly, he had about 500hp then........as far as i`m concerned the sky is the limit! Just need $$$$!
