Ok, good news and bad news...

Post by Inodoro Pereyra »

...at least for me.

The good news, after spending 379 days in 2 different immigration prisons ( or ¨detention centers¨, as they like to call them  ), I´m finally free, and able to, among other things, come back here.

The bad news, despite all my efforts to the contrary, I was finally deported back to Buenos Aires. Now, I have to figure out a way to get back to the US.

Anyways, with any luck, I will be hanging around from now on... :D

Thanks guys. I have a very bad connection where I am now so I gotta keep it short. I will hopefully be able to post in a few days. Either way, yes, with any luck, this time I hope I`m back for good.

Ok, now I`m connected.
Thank you all. Yes, last year wasn`t fun. It`s not like I was in a ¨prison¨, exactly. More like a concentration camp. And no, I`m not exaggerating, unfortunately. But it`s amazing the things you can endure, when you want something badly enough...
mitmaks wrote:Welcome back to the forum. Why did they deport you?
They deported me for a number of reasons I expect to address in a civil court soon enough. If it was for Obama`s, Napolitano`s and Morton`s statements, I should NOT have been deported. But, as I soon found out once I was inside, there`s a lot of money to be made off of undocumented aliens, their incarceration and eventual deportation, and nobody gives a damn about what those 3 idiots say. Like the Judge told one of the immates: `Obama and Morton are in Washington. In here, I`m the law.`

Oooo...k... Here's a little update.

After spending almost two years, working like a pig in my country, I finally got enough money to get out. Following several people's advice, I decided to move to Southern Spain, because I had been told that, first, Latin Americans didn't need a Visa to get to the European Union as tourists, and second, once in Spain, upon finding a job I would automatically get a work permit, and the residence after a year.
So, last April 21st, after having to buy the flight ticket twice (I'm suing the travel site for it), I finally landed at Barajas airport, in Madrid.
Over these last two weeks, I've been doing several things that needed to be done, getting acquainted with the place, and getting in contact with an NGO that helps immigrants in Spain.
In the meantime, I of course started to look for an mx-3 to buy (to my surprise, there are plenty of them here -at least comparing to the US- and the prices are not bad), and started lurking in here a bit, getting ready for the big day.
Even though I had gotten bad news, there were contradictory versions going 'round, so I was waiting for today, when I had an appointment to see an attorney (that works for the NGO) to get some answers.
So, finally, today I got my answers: to put it short, I'd been lied to. There is no way whatsoever for me to become a Spain legal resident, not even considering my grandparents were Spaniards.

So... back to square one, and almost 3000 Euro short. Not a good thing. And, of course, the mx-3 dream is as dead as it's been these last two years. :crying:

I'm glad to hear from you! But I'm very sorry about all the rotten luck you've had. You've shown that your determination to better yourself is very high. Things have to start getting better for you soon!! Just hang in there!

Thank you Savin. :)
Yeah, I've always been a determined guy. But, to be honest, when you're 50, and nothing you've done so far has gone right, the determination starts to fade.
That, and I'm getting really sick of being rejected everywhere. It's getting into my very last nerve.

Either way, gotta keep trying. One thing I know for sure is I can't live in my country anymore. I just don't fit in. And I refuse to let all that BS define what's left of my life.

Well see. I'll keep you guys posted.
