Polyurethane bushing kit (Part number collection)

Post by icajewler »

Im working on redoing my rear suspension, and while doing it im going to go ahead and get all the bushings for the front. In the process of rebuilding (which will take a while, i am a young father with more than a full time job) i will be posting pics and attempting to compile a list of available part numbers of either mx3 or universal parts to compile some sort of 'kit' for the complete set of all suspension bushing upgrades. Polyurethane only!

First of all i would like to confirm what suspension systems are compatible with the mx3 and small other variations. Most of us know what fits our stock parts (male to female) and what full other system fits on the car, ie. Miata brake/suspension builds.

The best place to get diagrams of our suspension is obviously the manual. So here are the rear and front suspension systems of our mx3's.

(edit) I have taken the diagrams and tried to isolate the parts that take bushings (sway bar/stabilizer bar isolation will be included later) so they are easier to see. I will use the names listed below unless someone wants to change them. My next step is to get part numbers from as many different suppliers as possible as well as measurements of each bushing so people can get universal if they choose. anyone want to match diagram number to bushing part number or bushing mm size if they already have it? MrMazda92 - I will add sway/stabilizer bar in the near future. And when (if ever in my two day a month time I have to work on my car) I take apart my suspension I will look into those cross member bushings. There has to be something out there for that! :P

ZX2 trailing arms are quite the upgrade, and do not alter the suspension geometry at all! They are an absolute must have for anyone running wider than factory wheel/tire combinations as well.

Many bushings from Escorts, Proteges, 323s, and a few other vehicles work as well. I'm not super familiar with the bushing options, but fully support this thread!

After a few minutes of looking through stealership diagrams I have attempted to compile a list of what parts are in our suspensions that require replacing, bushing and linkage wise. When i get back to my computer i will put the diagrams in this post and have a list under each (rear and front) of what our systems contain. Then i would like help figuring out each bushing to be removed and replaced with poly. Can't wait for the input! :freak:

I'll contribute in any way that I can, this is as worthy a cause as any!

@MrMazda92.
Do you have a link or a partnumber of those ZX2 trailing arms ?

@icajewler
You can have a Super Pro bushings set
You can look up the partnumbers, front is in Dutch ;)

Vooras draagarm chassis L SPF0908 16 FRAME MOUNT BUSHING FRONT
Vooras draagarm chassis R SPF1786k 88 LATERAL LINK
Vooras draagarm L SPF1787K 98 LATERAL LINK
Vooras draagarm R SPF0903K 19 SWAYBAR
Swaybar front L + R SPF1406 16 FRAME MOUNT BUSHING REAR
SPF0907K 42 REAR TAILING ARM
Achteras Trailing Arm - Chassis SPF0906K 53 REAR TAILING ARM

@WhiteFinish
Can you correspond Spf part number to diagram part number? A link or instructions on how to obtain the parts would also be really hepful. Im attempting to make this simple to the extreme. So a person that really doesn't like dealing with suspension (unfortunately there's a lot of them out there) can just order and replace without thinking too much. Thanks for the list! Its a great jump start! :love:

You could look up the partnumbers from the website. It also explains in the description.

Your pictures don't point at the bushings but at general parts. This would only make it confusing.

Re: Polyurethane bushing kit (Part number collection)

I'm starting from mechanics manual and breaking everything down to the bushings and my final diagram will be the parts that can take poly bushings and where to find the correct ones without having to make your own. If you followed what I wrote earlier, the process was a given.
I looked up the part numbers and the list (although it is a good one) defeats the purpose of this thread. I am trying to make it so you just have to look here (title gives it away) and have an easy way of finding everything you need for getting polyurethane bushings for your mx3 (not necessarily putting them on.)

So, I'm on my way to DC and will be working for the next 50 hours and will be not be able to write up the list of 'most used' suspension names so everyone can be on the same page throughout this post. Does anybody want to contribute names? Would be appreciated!

Front:
Lower Control Arm(LCA) bushings
Swaybar bushings

Rear:
Trailing Arm bushings
Lateral Link(TTL) bushings
Swaybar bushings

I believe that covers the off-the-shelf poly replacement items; Now we just need the part numbers for the various manufacturers.

It would be nice if we could replace the bushings(pads?) that separate the crossmember(front to rear) from the chassis of the car, but I have never seen a poly option used there.
