A note about RX-8 seats - They fit and look fantastic.

Post by 20b »

I've been looking to fit leather seats in my MX-3 for a few months, eventually came across a RX-8 at a scrap yard and couldn't resist to try to fit them and just to let people know, you CAN fit RX8 seats in a MX-3 (a 97' model in my case) without much trouble and they do look fantastic.
Electronics such as heated seats, movement (on driver's seat) etc works fine too and is not too hard to do.

Here's the donor car:

A friend mechanic welded them in for me, using a combination of the old rails/metal bits from the stock MX-3 seats along with RX-8 seats. No welding or modifying of the car itself or anything crazy like that. It took him about 4-5 hours to do this from start to finish without much previous experience of welding seats.

The price in total was 200 for the seats and 150 for the welding. - 350 euro for one of the nicest mods you can do to your MX-3 (In my opinion). The headroom is reduced a little bit however.

If you need any help in regards to fitment or images of how the welds look, feel free to ask!

Anyway, here are comparison pics:

There are other seats that work as well. Tiburon and mazda3 are some that come to mind quick that fit in our little old cars. The stock 1994 and up seats are so ugly. Great upgrade :D

Deadmaker is talking about Johnturboklze or something like that, think he may have been the first on the forum to do it.

Mikeinaus did it too.

Honestly, if you've got a welder you could put bus seats in a car...

Those seat looks very nice, nice mod!
Knowing you've spent too much on your car,
yet, you still want to keep modding. -priceless
