Total A/C system weight

Post by RobMinhas »

So I weighed the total AC system I pulled from my car today.

Approximately 40 pounds. Maybe another pound or two of refrigerant in there as well.

Just for those folks who might search it in the future.

From this topic... viewtopic.php?p=584171#p584171

Note these weights are not precise... I was using a bathroom scale (LOL) but it will give you a good idea!

A/C Compressor (including bracket and bolts): 17 lbs
Condenser Fan: 4 lbs
Condenser: 4 lbs
Receiver Drier: 1 lb
Refrigerant Lines/Pressure Switch/Relays: 3 lbs?
Cooling Unit (inside the car): 9 lbs
Total estimated weight +/- 40 lbs

@Mooneggs, I posted it just because I kept seeing on the facebook page that the A/C system weighed 100lbs

And even though the information is there, people will insist on seeing proof.

It's a sports car, not a race car. 40lbs is worth every ounce to be cool...specially if you drive a black car.
94' RS/GS/MS/CF Monster Turbo...coming soon.
93' GS SE, the Black Beast, the former love of my life...soon to be gutted and crushed.
94' GS, black on black, now in several small pieces...and one large crushed piece.

@ Rob, yeah WTH was up with that :) I was like 100lbs you are dreaming. Someone told me the other day that taking out the back seat free'd up 100 lbs too. Maybe 30..

Yeah it's kind of nice to have another thread to link to instead of that one, bit too much crazy going on there.

And yeah, Josh, too much ricer math and exaggeration involved when it comes down to that sort of stuff.
