Great project. Just make sure you cover all your glass before you start welding. ![Welder :welder:](./images/smilies/welder.gif)

Re: Marc's Sooty 2.0 - Autozam AZ-3 1.5 DOHC
I've started the patching in of the aerial battered section today.

Will hopefully finish that tomorrow. I've currently got it tacked in place. TIG welders are awesome![Smile :-)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

Haha you're welcome to Jason.
I have to say I'm not a fan of bodywork! So tedious.
Welding done.

It's pretty close now in terms of finish. I'll hopefully block sand once more, then filler primer, then paint. Can't look worse than it did![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

Re: Marc's Sooty 2.0 - Autozam AZ-3 1.5 DOHC
take the tube from a can of WD40 and put it in your primer nozzle. Get inside the opening with it and spray the back side of those welds as best you can. The rust will come through quickly from the back of the welds if you don't seal it.
Looks like you're better at welding sheet metal than I am. Well done.

Re: Marc's Sooty 2.0 - Autozam AZ-3 1.5 DOHC
Thanks for the tip Charlie. Will do! I used weld through primer but still makes sense to cover the welds. I'm going to shove a vacuum down there too and try and suck up all the filings. Already did my best with a magnet.

Re: Marc's Sooty 2.0 - Autozam AZ-3 1.5 DOHC
Did a bit more sand fill prime today. Still got more to go. Getting those edges flat but curved is the worst bit.
Anyway, whilst waiting between drying I familiarised myself with the engine more.

Heads look pretty clean, mileage seems believable! I'm going to change the valve cover gasket after I clean up the valve cover. I'm impressed by the chromed bolts as standard! Next up oil change.

Thanks Aaron, it's getting better anyway! I still fancy a summer cheapo DIY respray but I'll see how it goes.

Nice MAF system on these, very little restriction compared to the V6 VAF. External IAT sensor too, nifty!
