Hi Mike. I'm dumb about HIDs. Why is 4300k better than 8000k? Why are 8000k bad? Thanks.

Here's why. 4300 is the brightest. Some shades are even illegal depending on where you live and how much the cops hate young maniac drivers. Personally I think that's profiling but then again, what do I know.

8k sucks for anyone who wants to have a pleasant drive. Those fuckers are annoying behind you or coming towards you.

Thank you both SO much! I thought I was the only one that had a problem with them! I'm all for the bright whites, especially since they actually illuminate the road better...

8Ks that are mal-adjusted, with 8K foglights to match(left on 24/7)... Too popular in my city. :(

The ratings used for HID lights are in Kelvin for it's color temperature. Remember that light falls into the electromagnetic spetrum. Once you go below Red, you're dealing with InfraRed emissions, and once you've above Violet, you're in UltraViolet light, in which neither you can see, but both you can cook with, literally.

When you're dealing with light, for actually use for lighting stuff up, you want the most Lumens, which is the actual rating for visible/useful light.
