High motor oil consumption

Post by kudkudniyog »

Good day!!!

I have a 92 SOHC which I love due economic reasons (gas saver). It has been consuming a lot of motor oil. About 1 quart every 400-500 miles. First thing I did was to check for leaks. There was none. Next thing I did was to check the spark plugs for signs of fouling. All four plugs are nice and dry without any signs of unusual/abmormal operation.

I am just puzzled where all the oil is going. Eversince my last oil change 4000 miles ago, I have added 7 quarts.

Any ideas?

You probably need to use this. http://www.kanolabs.com/ It'll free up sticky oil and compression rings.

I know you believe that you understand what you think I said but I'm sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

Add this to the oil? I am due for an oil change. Should I add if before or after?

Does it smoke more in the morning on startup or when you overrun it (WOT to 0 throttle) or under power?

If it smokes under any of those conditions it points to a specific problem.
