I am completely at a loss.... I measured all of my bushings in metric and even though a few of the measurements are close, none of them match the part number listed for the 1994 323 (BG Astina) my suspension is getting worse and worse. Someone please direct me....

First of all, so everyone is certain; this post is for the USDM 1994 MX-3 1.6 L4 B6DE

Well, I found in my research on the boards that the 1994 MX-3 here in the US uses a slightly larger Lower Control Arm Rear Inner Bushing Bracket. Superpro LCA Rear Inner Bushings only range in two sizes for the 323 Astina BG, Eunos Precidia, Mercury Tracer and Ford Escort and that's 35 mm and 40 mm respectively, Though if you are trying to go with bushings that an American can actually get, then the most sense for us guys in the states is to go with Energysuspension and source a 97-01 Ford Escort at the wreckers, pull the LCA rear inner bushing with the smaller bracket together on both sides and then order the Energy Suspension Pack, 4.3152R which is for the 97-01 Ford Escort. I read that when you change out that bracket to the smaller Escort ZX2 one and then replace all of the LCA bushings from that kit, your LCA is essentially converted to an Escort ZX2 LCA; making it just a little bit easier for us to source repair parts on the suspension.

LCA Conclusion:

My MX-3 Measurements: LCA Bushing Inner Front: 55mm Lth X 46mm Shell Dia X 24mm Tube Dia X 40mm Bushing Dia. (55mm Dia Flange)
LCA Bushing Inner Rear: 38mm Bushing Dia X 52mm Lth
LCA Bushings (Inner Front/Inner Rear)
Energy Suspension Part# 4.3152R (Red) or 4.3152G (Black)


As pointed out before, the Front and Rear Stabilizer Bars are pretty standard for all MX-3s. The front Stabilizer Bar is 20 mm and the Rear is 24 mm. There might be some slight variations as wytbishop pointed out in some of those discussions I read with the overseas markets but for us in the states and going with the idea that we would be using all Energy Suspension parts, all we have to keep in mind is 20 and 24 mm. Autozone sells these for 17.99 USD and it comes with both right and left bushings. There are obvious differences in our OEM Bracket and the ES Bracket but if you refer to this link: Universal Energy Suspension Rear Stabilizer Bushing How-To, IMACHU2 gives a pretty bad a-- write up on how to easily make them work.

Stabilizer Bar Conclusion:

My MX-3 Measurements: Stabilizer Bar Front 20mm, Stabilizer Bar Rear 24mm
Stabilizer Bushings (Front/Rear)
Energy Suspension Part# 20mm Front 9.5124R(G), 24mm Rear 9.5128R(G)


Next is your Rear Lateral Link Bushings. These were pretty straight forward as all of these bushings were the same size. I did, however measure a Protege and a 323 out at the wreckers and they also appear to be the same size as well for that particular year here in the US.

Rear Lateral Links (Right/Left) Conclusion:

My MX-3 Measurements: Rear Lateral Links (Right/Left): 32mm Bushing Dia, 57mm Bushing Lth
Rear Lateral Link Bushings (Right/Left)
Energy Suspension Part# 9.9108R(G) X 4


As to the Trailing Arm Bushings; Thanks for posting the pic DeadMaker. Mine measured the same as well. This to is pretty clear.

Trailing Arms (Right/Left) Conclusion:

My MX-3 Measurements: Trailing Arm (Right/Left) Front Position: 40mm Bushing Dia, Rear Position: 44mm
Trailing Arms Bushings (Right/Left)
Energy Suspension Part# 4.7123R(G)

I know that some of my measurements are going to look strange but just know, these Bushings are completely shot so they are not going to measure perfect at all.

See if Wytbishop would do another batch. If you make it worth his while, he might. otherwise, a GB is a good idea.

He doesn't have the moulds anymore, his previous supplier misplaced them... Energy is our lone source, as far as I know. ;(

I'd be in for a group buy, FULL set of bushings next spring!

Next year will be an easier year as far as MX-3s are concerned, at least for me. Suspension upgrades are straight-forward, and I'll be able to get my head off of the engine for a while.
