yes, it smells sweet, that's why cats love it and lick it all the time.
It sounds to me like your heater core might be leaking or where lines go through firewall, must be dripping on exhaust somewhere and burning off.
I'll check out my lines and see what's happening with them but the smell definitely isn't sweet.

Anyway I think you should hang one of those Xmas tree fresheners and stop worrying about it.
It wouldn't let me see the video, but I had air fresheners in the car before (not cause of the exhaust issue) but I could still smell the fumes.

does it smell in your engine bay? either something is leaking onto your exhaust or you have an exhaust leak. is your oil pan leaking? any transmission leaks? its possible something is leaking below and being splashed up from the cvs rotating... get under the car and look near the rear exhaust manifold, everything should look dry and relatively clean, if there are any dark wet spots of oil or grease you have a leak somewhere.

Well, either there is smoke in your engine bay, or you're actually hot boxing your car.

Its not magically coming from nowhere.

Oh I know it's not magically coming from no where and I found a small coolant leak when I looked under the car. The leak is some where around the timing belt, but the smell isn't of burning coolant. Now I unplugged the egr and no smoke but just a faint smell of fumes.

Mine did this when my rear valve cover leaked... went straight onto the rear exhaust manifold and it never dripped much oil because it got burnt first lol.

Does it smell like petrol being burnt or oil? There's a distinct difference. I'd say you're leaking oil and you wouldn't see the rear exhaust manifold easily without taking it off. Try getting your finger back there and wiping along the gasket area and see if your finger gets smeared with oil or not...

Well my front valve cover leaks just a little but nothing in the rear, and yeah it smells like oil. It hasn't been doing it as much anymore tho which puzzles me. I'm still lost as to what it could be. Like I said before when I u plugged the egr no more smoke so maybe it has something to do with that?
