How do I remove the rear wing?

Post by ratheater »

Hello,

Here is my 1995 MX3. I paid $1800 for it when it had 48000 miles. The owner wanted $2400, but I believed he puked in the trunk. The interior is in fantastic shape, the paint however needs work.

I love the way the MX3 drives with 16" wheels, very sure footed.

The clear coat is peeling, and the color is really fading. I am going to do a Rustoleum Restoration this week, I'll post pictures later.

Another thing, I have tried to search for ways to remove the rear wing. Google doesn't help, and there isn't a FAQ on this forum for it.
I am trying to remove the 6 bolts that are sticking out from the hatch. I have removed all the pushpins that secure the black plastic trim to the hatch.
Google says the trim pops off. I am putting considerable force on this piece of plastic but can't seem to remove it.
Can someone help me with this?
Thanks

Ehhh evil ATX....

Clean mx though! You should give up on google and use the manuals on the main page:

Remove number 7 on the second post and you can see the bolts are all 10mm heads to where a spoiler or valence should be

Yeah, I am trying to remove the #1 (lower trunk trim) from the hatch. Can't seem to pop it off.

Finally got the hatch trims off. Holy hell! I thought I broke the damn thing when it finally popped off. I found out that one of the right rear defroster isn't attached to the hatch. Another thing that needs fixing.

Overall, I am loving the MX3. I drove from St Louis to Springfield IL, about 200 miles road trip and it returned a 29.80 MPG. Suck it Volt!!!!

I got 36 on the highway in my 95.

It wasn't completely stock but you should be getting more than that on the highway if your foot isn't made out of lead.

I was going 70-75 miles an hour mostly. I am sure if I drove 65, I can get 36 mpg. But... I can't drive 65.

no, you should still be getting around that, 70-75. May be time for an all around tune up!

Oh really.... alright. I will go do a tune up. Thanks for that info.
Everywhere I read online regarding the MX3 MPG is around 26. So I thought I was doing good.
