Thanks... its very sad to let this car go :crying: Its been great to me and had alot of fun with it. I tried putting it up for sale a couple times before but changed my mind last minute... but this time its for real. Anyways, this is my next project. Haven't done much with it, but hopefully soon will start some work

Did it sell to a member on here? I hope whomever buys it takes good care of it and stays on this board.
I'm pretty sure you guys will see this car on here. This "mystery" buyer has some great plans for it, and I do hope he takes good care of it.

Enjoy the RX8 =)

When the Rotary goes, will you be rebuilding it, or swapping to a piston engine??

I've been thinking either MS RX8 or RX7 FD, either with an LS1, as my "Fresh out of the military" present to myself, in a few years.

The RX-8 motor is a much better design and since it is not boosted you should be just fine. Mazda has a 100k warranty on the motors themselves and they would not do that if the apex seals still wore out every 60k ;)

Well I sure hope he has better luck than my friend, he's on his 3rd engine - all replaced under warranty. And the Mazda techs suck so much at working on RX-8s that every time he got it back something wasn't working. I think the 100k warranty is more to sell the car and boost the confidence of buyers, doesn't really mean the engines are reliable. Don't get me wrong - they are great cars, just a pain in the a5s...

my brother went through 2 or 3 engines himself in his rx-8... but I think he got one of the early models, which had a known problem. I don't remember what it was exactly but I remember he was crying about it.

It's very unfortunate too... I'd drive an RX8 in a heartbeat if there was a different engine option. Rotary engines are cool and all, but the added cost of constant rebuilds(every 5 years, if you're gentle, really?!) pushes it beyond reason for me.

haha... its a blast to drive and right now mine has about 34K so drives well. With my luck as soon as the MX3 is gone... RX8 is gonna start having issues.
