Starting New Hobby, Slot Car Racing

Post by Daninski »

Ok call me what ever name but I remember as a kid how much fun I had racing slot cars. I would mod them without even knowing what modding was and building bodies from scratch using left over model car parts.
This whole thing started when I saw a 1/143 scale Artin racing set in the Salvation Army store for 6 bucks. Got it home and no cars no controllers so I've ordered those and just lined up a buy for 4 Formula 1 cars. I also put feelers out of course for an MX3. I have no idea about the hobby but my plan is to eventually build a 4 lane track and run 7.5 volt cars at around 12 volts. There's so much out there I'm kinda giddy about the whole thing and best part,,this stuff is pretty cheap and there's lots of it for sale out there. Here's a sample for those of you who have no idea. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EHfh72fJ ... re=related

Oh ya, I heard this Hobby attracts a lot of bitches so I'll be buying a fresh pair of Joe Boxers just in case. :2thumbsup:

I know you believe that you understand what you think I said but I'm sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

Since you're into slot cars, you might like an episode of 'James May's Toy Stories' where they make a full size recreation of a track in Great Britain and race Scalextrics on it.

Its neat. Heck, the whole 6 episode series is pretty cool.

I'll look into that, thanks. I can't say I'm 'into it' yet as I still have to set up my track but my plan is to get into it as soon as my cars and controllers come in. lol
