Re: Traction bars --- KL & BP
I know how it works, the connection swivels, thats fine, but the thing I was assuming, was that the connection on the new subframe was not exactly in line with the LCA rotational axis. If it is, then you're good.

Re: Traction bars --- KL & BP
Both sides are in axis to the LCA's swing.
Cone spacers are provided instead of tube stock @ the heim joints- this allows for more pivot angle for the heim joints.
Given both ends are inline & both utilize cone spacers you could theoretically max out one side for pivot & still have some angle left on the opposing side. Thats the beauty of it

Re: Traction bars --- KL & BP
the mazdaspeed mx-3 may need a set of these...are they only beneficial for straight line speed or is there more...

Re: Traction bars --- KL & BP
They'd help with undesired toe changes under any hard acceleration, straight or corners.

Re: Traction bars --- KL & BP
If I have enough funds after my swap, I maybe looking at these if you come up with more in the future. Kind of running low on funds for the moment. lol
Re: Traction bars --- KL & BP
2- shipped out today!!
2 LEFT!!!!
here are better pictures showing where the bars mount.
the LCA's are a multi-layer stamped steel piece. the bottom hole & middle hole(from the bottom going up) must be slightly enlarged to match that of the upper hole ( M12 bolt size ) easily done with a drill/grinding bit in a matter of minutes
Per the obvious. these pictures were taken during R&D - with incomplete bracketry.

Re: Traction bars --- KL & BP
I hope you will make more down the road, maybe in 3 months or so??
Since engines are consistently expensive to build, I can rely on the price for parts and labor being high That being said, it's suspension overhaul time!
I'm springing for everything...

Re: Traction bars --- KL & BP
As of now these are a limited run.
Each of these were put together using my old GS as a jig. - perfectly straight GS frame -
Shortly, finding un-bent/ un-twisted/ un-mangled mx3 tow hooks to use is also a severe challenge.
now in the event im given or acquire more tow hooks in good shape.
I could attempt to coax the new owner of my old car into letting me borrow it for test & building purposes.
End point. its fuzzy right now as to if there will be more made......

Re: Traction bars --- KL & BP
You use towhooks for the brackets?
Would you be able to find a local machine shop that could produce 20 or 30 sets for a reasonable rate? I imagine it wouldn't be too hard... I would volunteer the use of my towhook as a template, assuming I could get it back in one piece.
That would reduce costs quite a bit for you, especially since towhooks require a lot of time/effort to source, in sufficient quantity at least.

Re: Traction bars --- KL & BP
Producing new towhooks could be done theoretically.
But the production cost of cutting & bending said pieces would heavily outweigh on the cost to provide these.
The LCA brackets were waterjet cut & bent locally. so i have the ability.....
I bent each of the bars @ my current work (luckily enough to have access to a good pipe bender) this was my time & labor (which you can't really outsource from another shop cheaper)
However, i won't be working there for much longer. I'll be moving across country
My boss would be keen toward making more-- but would need to design a Jig of some sort in order to do so.
Wherein again lies the problem of sourcing a perfectly straight mx3 frame
Look @ the pictures on the first page again you'll have a better understanding of whats going on.
