Right on the top, its a little inconspicuous vac nipple type deal with a little plastic hat on it.

Axle seals, between the case halves, from any drain/fill bolt or the reverse/neutral switches.

The vent won't leak unless you seriously over-fill it.

It's not the vent I'm worried about it's the gases not being released, I think that might be the problem. It's really hard to tell where it's coming from though the entire transmission looks wet on the bottom.

Good luck finding the leak. It is possible to have coolant or engine oil on the bottom of the transmission from various leaks either above the transmission or within (rear main seal). However gear oil - if that is what you have in your transmission has a distinct sulphur smell so easy to identify.

Sulfur smells like eggs, no? Gear oil is, in my opinion, the worst smelling fluid in the car, but it sure doesn't smell like sulfur.

I think coolant/motor oil mixed is the worst smell, but that's not present in most cars thankfully  If your gear oil smells like sulfur, you need to make a change before your synchros eat you know what.

I believe GL-4 or GL-5 SAE75W -90 is recommended for our cars. GL-5 is supposed to have more extreme pressure modifiers that have some sulfur and phosphorus in them. I thought that was the source of the gear oil smell. I agree it is does not smell exactly like eggs, but we can all agree it smells bad and distinctive - nothing like regular motor oil or coolant.

BTW I use GM Synchromesh in my transmission and find it shifts pretty smooth for a transmission with 175K + miles.

Back to the OP - what is leaking?

Today on the top of the transmission I seen some gear oil and some bubbling coming from the little puddle of the gear oil it looks to be coming from the transmission half that bolts the gear side on the bell housing area just beneath the throttle body. It is quite hard to explain and I think it leaking because of excess pressure build up in the transmission or the gear oil boiling.

There is also a seal at the clutch input and the speedo sensor (mines leaking there b/c of a crack on my sensor when I did my clutch) that can leak. My advice is to clean and drain your transmission and apply some oil safe uv dye to your oil and run it for aprox 50-100 miles and then look it over. Then youll know exactly where its at.
