Protege suspension parts

Post by SstennizZ »

I know the suspension should be alike to ours, except for the swaybar, on the early proteges. But, has anybody ever actually tried the rear trailing and control arms from a protege? I was looking at the megan racing parts. They look like they might fit.. Megan makes both trailing and control arms for the 90-95 protege..

Unless the steel of your current arms is corroded beyond repair, just buy wytbushings :) For the price you'll get a lot more.

I'm 90% confident that our suspension is geometrically the same, minus our TTL system in the rear. The trailing arm should be the same.

The Protege trailing arms are identical to the MX-3 RS trailing arms. The Lateral Links have a different mount for the sway bar end links but they are the same length and the bushings are the same size.

Nice. Mine are bend and corroded. Wytbishop, do you still make the complete bushings sets?
I'm getting my mx stripped and stiffened for track use only, so I could use a set of bushings..

Unfortunately no. The interest just hasn't been there.

Crap.. And I just noticed those guys at andysautosport are full of s---.. They claim its for the 90-94 protege, but that item number at the megan racing site says its for a 98-04 protege.. So no way that'll fit..
You know any other company that sells them? As well as swaybars? All I know is that whiteline has one, but are there more?

Megan does sell them for the MX and protege I have seen them, perhaps they have discontinued them.

I would measure out everything and compare it to the specs on Megans website

Looking at the specs for the Trailing Arms the big end ID is too small. The post on the rear spindle of the MX-3/Protege is 20mm which is 0.787". Theirs says it's 3/4" which won't go. Unless they're just rounding and it is actually 20mm. It's worth checking before you buy. Also the small end bushing on the BG chassis is just a hair over 1-3/4" wide and the bolt is 12mm vs. 7/16" of the MR piece so the top end will not fit either.

Hardly, nobody loves us. the front end is fairly easy as we share control arms with escorts (Bushings, at least) but the rear is unique to us.
