Kia Sephia transmission

Post by NLP303 »

My mx3 has a bp swap from an escort gt and the g series tranny broke. Has anyone here used a kia sephia tranny with an escort gt engine? Any info would help I tried searching it already. My local junkyards do not have anymore escort gts or proteges but there are a couple of 95-97 kia sephias.

As long as they're bolted to a Mazda BP, it'll bolt right in. The Sephia trans is actually a bit stronger :)

NO, it doesn't ^^^

you will need the axles and input shaft from the Kia trans. as they are bigger by 2 splines. sensors are the same.

The Kia trans is a cousin to the 99' Mazda Speed Protege trans. same internals thats why with a little grinding you can swap the MS limited slip diff rite in. you can only use the Kia axles and not the protege axles as the Kia uses the same size hubs as the MX but larger trans sides like the Pro.

all around the best OEM trans you can use with the BP or B6.

the last swap i did we didnt even do a limited slip with it, only my custom filled polly mounts. and it layed two strips of rubber on every launch. it took the abuse well.

Yeah some one said you need the kia input shaft, I believe they meant jackshaft/halfshaft/intermediate shaft whatever you choose to call it.
