Arthur's 1993 mx-3 rs
Hello everyone and this is the start to my work log. :] Just a heads up, I am
not going for the factory look. I know some of you only like the mx-3 that
way, but I have a very hard time finding other mx-3s so its better for me to
go this way.
Alright so it is about time I start one of these up. To save time and work,
here is a link to the car when I got it, along with what has been done to it.
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=76387&p=573116#p573116
I finally got a job and started working on how it looks, seance it runs and I
don't have the money, tools, or room for a swap. So the first thing I did was
bought a cd player.
The last owner kind of killed the wiring harness for it, so I had to cut the
factory harness off. Then rewire it straight to the cd player. Sucks a lot I know
but after 3 hours of playing wire match up. I got that working, sadly though it
dose not save memory and kills my battery. Got to figure out how to rewire it.
Seance pretty much every speaker in the car is ruined, I started looking into new
sets. My brother gave me a set of fusions. So I went ahead and bought another set
for the back of the car.
Now I get to re-plaint everything that I did white, green haha.
Now I am currently working on the door panels. The ones I got when I bought the car
were half fiber glassed and coated with some fabric. along with the factory materials
taken off. After I got all of the old fiberglass and fabric off I learned that most
of the foam was stripped off. I went ahead and finished it off and sanded it down.
Now they are ready to be properly fiber glassed and painted. Also each panel has like
four 3 inch cracks from the edge inwards, lame i know.
As you can see in this picture, They are turning out rather nicely I think. The
passenger window handle is just floating there seance the spots to bolt it down are
kinda well... not there. The little tweeter will be moved about 4 inches to the left
to the flat section. Its current spot is horrible and dose not fit well, so that hole will
be fixed in the process.
This is all I have for right now, I'm waiting on a nice hot day before I start the painting
and fiber glassing. This will probably be a slow log but oh well.

Re: Arthur's 1993 mx-3 :]
Time for a little update. So my tail lights finally came in, all of my pics are done with my cheep pre-paid phone so sorry about the quality
Then I started on repainting my plastic for the interior. I went to Lowes and had some paint made to match my Fusion speakers, apparently the color is called "lemon grass". I primed everything , sanded and re-primed again. I used a forest green as my base color.
After every thing was painted I let my paint dry some so it would be "gloopy" to give everything a texture. Its kind of hard to see in the picture but oh well.
After all of that was finished, it was time for the clear coat. This probably wasn't the best way to do it but it was raining and i really wanted this stuff done haha.
All the finished parts, I will do the back panels later on and will post pictures of them in the far in a few.

I'm generally not a fan of painted interiors, or the colour green, but I'm glad you're doing it right, and I'm curious to see the end product.

Haha thanks , as for doing it right , in my small room, I had my heater on full blast to help everything dry. I would say it was well over 85*F in my room
Here is a pic of the front and center put in. I still need to find the plastic gauge guard and a few other little parts.

Re: Arthur's 1993 mx-3 :]
Thanks , If you want i can I can give you the formula for that color green so Lowes can mix it. The color is called "Lemon Grass" or as my friend calls it "alien baby poo green" haha. On a side note , I'm replacing the seats soon and I need a new computer chair. So I will be taking the passenger seat and making it my new chair. The driver side is kinda done for.

Re: Arthur's 1993 mx-3 :]
Sorry if I can't double post in my work log. Today was nice and warm so Here is what I have done. This is a little off topic from the actual car, but still related I guess haha.
So I took my seat out,
cut, drilled holes , and mounted a bored to the bottom of the seat.
From this angle you can see how one side is higher due to the bar that slides the seat back and forth. Also I had to use different bolts from the ones that went in that side. I didn't have any spacers long enough but i did manage with 2 nuts and 2 pressure washers per bolt.
I took the bottom half of my old chair , lined it up , drilled holes and mounted it in place.
Now that this is all finished , here is how it turned out.
As you can see I don't have carpet, (last owners idea). I have been looking around for some black carpet and i came across this company, Would you think they would provide quality and correct products, Or have you shopped from them before? They are called "Stock Interiors".

Haha alright and thanks , No the only way to hit the wood is if your trying to. Far as your concern for your calves go, the chair sits level. The lump at the front of it makes it rather hard to bend your legs under it. If I sand the corners off, then there is no way. As for hitting your shin on it as if you were walking past it , the chair itself sticks out to far . One of my friends want it now and my brother has made little attempts to take it.

Re: Arthur's 1993 mx-3 :]
lol, that's awesome...I was just going to do that with my passenger side se leather seat. Also was going to make some arm rests for it and wrap them in leather, good to see I am not the only one thinking of doing stuff with left over car parts.

Re: Arthur's 1993 mx-3 :]
Someone must have some carpet. Why not post in [WTB]. If I find any at the pic n pull I would sell it to you S+H plus $10 bucks for my time and gas to the Post Office. Probably have to really flatten it down tho but still shipping shouldn't be that much.
I have a couple of nice chairs as well I plan to 'convert'. Good job.

Lol thanks everyone. <3 Also Daninski Thanks for trying to help me i appreciate it, but I'm already in the process of buying carpet from someone up here =].
Time for a little update, this is not much but just trying to stay active =]
I painted and textured my back panels. Only the middle is painted, the rest is green masking tape lol. They will not be in the car until Thursday/Friday though. I have to go pick up some more clear coat
