The "What is this connector?" game!

Post by Dark_Rider2k3 »

Swap is even closer to being done. Connecting up the wiring harness, but ran into a wire that I don't know where it belongs.

It is a 2 wire plug that has an end that looks like this:

-
|

top end ( - ) is a brown wire with a yellow line, and a bit of black (like.. every so many inches it's black)

the bottom end ( | ) is a black wire with red every so many inches.

I might have more confusing wires later on but so far that's it!

Thanks!!!

edit:

also there is a black/blue-green, black/orange "metal" plug.. it's like a metal connector.. it's on the same string as the o2 sensor, engine temp. sensor for the dash, and rad fan switch.

edit2:

Okay so I found that the first plug I asked about with the T connector connects to a plug on the transmission (looks like the reverse lights). Is that right? It's on the back, near the shifter. And if this is right, then will this work? Like.. I'm going from ATX -> MTX, but using the MTX engine harness. Will I still have to splice wires for backup lights to work, or what?

i assume it's by the battery?
unfortunately this isn't an answer as i don't know what that plug is either but my car's been running fine without it hooked up =P
so leave it for now and connect everything up and see if she starts.
i also have a big white plug that's unplugged near the radiator side that i have no idea where it hooks up to

Which wire do you say is by the battery? If it's the first one I was talking about then yes it's near the mid section by the battery. And I have it currently connected to a plug on my transmission (kia trans.)

Its also a ground... if you're talking about the one I'm thinking about. It looks like something else, but it fits on a little bracket by the distributor.

This pic kinda shows it

Just above the plug wires in the pic... mounted to the same place as the O2 connector

and on the BP, you can kinda see it.

Ok I get it now. And I saw the old connector on the B6.

So now, what did you do to "bypass" that? Like how did you end up grounding those wires?

Dude, read.

And quit positing in ancient topics unless you have something productive to say, ie, not a reiteration of the solution.
