Which megasquirt to get?
I notice there are a few different versions out for Megasquirt. Which one do I get?
It's funny how I am very confident with wiring, but I get to megasquirt and i just get so lost in it all...
I am assuming this is the best kit to get?

Re: Which megasquirt to get?
The kit you choose depends on your wants and needs.
The MS2 is supposed to be more sturdy, and can handle more "abuse", meaning it's less fragile. Other than that, it has features that MS1 didn't have, and is expandable(I forget just how many daughter boards MS2 can hold, but I'm thinking it was 2?)
Best bang for your buck would probably be to buy somebody else's old setup, as it would likely be pre-assembled and have almost everything included. Re-sale = cheaper too, can't beat that.
That's what I'm waiting on.

Took the bp+t out of the mx and swapped it into a 95 escort wagon.

Re: Which megasquirt to get?
i was gonna mention that too but he said he's very confident in wiring so i assume he know's how to solder as well.
so by buying an unassembled kit he can save 200-250 which is quite a bit

I've been talking with Lex and they're working on a PnP ECU for the KL. I have my money in a pickle jar waiting for them to be ready.

Re: Which megasquirt to get?
I'd recommend getting the best you can afford. Having said that the v3 board is easily upgradable I believe. IIRC MS2 is pretty much just a different processor, meaning you can run the higher res tables properly. Now there's the expansion cards which look really easy to add on to the v3 board. I really like having the coilpacks, so get that if you can. Hppwdn knows alot about these, maybe he'll have some advice.

I've been talking to LeX on Club Protege who is of big help! He has told me how you can use megasquirt to run A/C, IAC, and VICS. Also confirmed what you all said about MS2.
So yeah going to work on this as my next project (after i do some small things the car needs)

Re: Which megasquirt to get?
I came across this thread discussing the Fully Assembled Plug and Play MS and since there was interest, I thought I'd mention that the K V6 series are ready for sale:

Re: Which megasquirt to get?
Yes it is but it is designed to fit inside the V3.0 PCB which makes wiring a big pain and is certainly not plug and play. For the MX3 there is really no reason to upgrade to an MS3 anyways - the MS2 can be setup to have sequential injection and ignition.Pritchett wrote:Isn't Megasquirt 3 available now?

Re: Which megasquirt to get?
I'm now running MS2. Have to say it is very smooth driving now, mind you getting it tuned contributed massively too. I still remember the first time I ran my ZE with no VAF, what an induction roar

A tune is a must - this is what we always emphasize with customers - the MS is a tool that needs to be used correctly.marcdh wrote:I'm now running MS2.
