Angry eye opinions?

Post by mikeinaus »

one of my friends is finishing up his final term of school and has access to a welder for the next few weeks. i was thinking of taking advantage of this and putting some angry eyes onto my hood. the only real problem is its probably too cold out to do the body filler/paint it for the time being. but i wouldnt mind driving around with it looking like crap for a few months if it means i could do it for free.

anyways ive been playing with some cardboard cut outs and was wondering peoples opinions on what would look best. Option A would be basically connecting the 2 corners of the headlight in a straight line. Option B would be extending the hood side corner out an inch or so to make the car a bit angrier. and option C would basically be option B plus extending the fender to lineup with the ended hood. heres a few pics, let me know what you guys think...

Option A:

Option B:

Option C: (didnt have time to take pics of actual setup so i photoshoped in the fender extion)

P.S. option c may end up being some kind of plastic glued to the actual headlight as the body work to extend the fender seems like itd be harder then the hood and ive got extremely basic skills.

Neither, get a set of projectors. Looks 100% better, is still functional and if you change your mind you can unbolt them as opposed to irreverisbly modding your hood 'specially if your not proficent with body work.

Stickers aren't too bad of an idea... but you still have the undesirable line.

Manila tag double-sided-taped on is sexy as hell though.

my hood has tuns of paint chips and needs to be repainted anyways. getting a new hood from the wreckers isnt really a problem if i decide i dont like it down the road or completely botch the job. projectors are on my list and will eventually be added. i really like the look of the angry eyes and would like to get it done while i have the chance to do it for free. im just looking for peoples opinions on what styles i came up with would look the best. im leaning towards option C, but might go with A as its easier. + i dont know if itd be possible to get the headlights out with option c.

it's not really a true angry eye extension but you'll get the idea of the shape you'll want, i personally think it's the best flowing.

Personally I like either of the first 2, the last one just looks stock-ish (or maybe I didnt do it right)

thanks for the PS. i think to make it simplest im just going to go with option A and put a straight piece of metal connecting the corners above the headlights.

now for my final stupid question... does anyone think jb weld would be strong enough to hold the extensions on? due to my work schedule and the time my friend would be able to do it, it looks like i may not be able to get my car to his school.

well if you can't get it to the school i'd just recommend not doing it, it'll save you money not having to bondo it and paint it.
and in the long run you'll probably just regret it, so i say, if your gonna do it, do it right

ya your probably right. its not like im in a rush to finish my car anyways. im going to school in the next few months and im hopeing to finish my car within the next 4 years. exterior is gonna be mazdaspeed bumper, halos with vert leds, angry eyes, clear markers, undecided modest side skirts, rear hatch shade, rs raised spoiler, rsx rear lip and black altezzas. going to finish it off with a black primer paint job and possibly flat black vinyl wrapping the whole thing. if i can ever afford the $2000+ for a paint job ill probably go with a glossy gunmetal.

that sounds like a good plan to me, i say for now put any money to have towards the engine. always nice to have a good running engine, even better to have a nice powered engine =D

my car is pretty solid in terms of reliability right now. ive put in over $2000 in parts in the last year and i dont think anything major is on its way out. except for my transmission that is. 2nd gear grinds occasionally but im not too worried about it. my goal is to buy jordans klze in march, and throw in a junkyard tranny while im at school. what my car looks like is pretty far down on my list. i want a new motor and suspension before i go into external mods. unless of course i can find the parts i want for cheap. i may have found an rsx rear lip for $60 and i hope to pick it up within the next week.

p.s. i found a guy on craigslist that said he'd weld on the hood extension for $30. i figured it would be alot more expensive then that so im not in that much of a rush to do it. probably put it off till summer.

The very first cardboard cut out look was my favorite. I do wish the headlights were a slightly different shape, just slightly. I'm picky though, so my opinion on this shouldn't count :freak:
