Re: Thinking of MoTec M600 for my ZE SC Project
just wondering why you would not just go with a megasquirt. i will be hooking mine up for the supercharged ze here in about 3 weeks after the car is painted. these units are tried and true, lot's of guy's have run them and can help with the hook up and tune. not to mention they are a fraction of the price.

Lot's of flexibilty with the motec seen the diagnostics in action, it's practicly like Mercedes diagnostics. Also lots of people seem to have lots of issues with the fans, that they have to have the fans on all the time.

Re: Thinking of MoTec M600 for my ZE SC Project
thats way too much money and way too much engine management for anything you could possibly be thinking with a ze... What is spending that much money going to provide? The Same exact results as Haltech, megasquirt and tech3, in fact megasquit itself handles pretty much all the tuners needs. Thats 400 dollars US, its a DIY, and it has been proven, time after time after time. If your looking to drop some cash, put it where it'll do the most good, in the engine and in the transmission. The other 3 EMS' will provide you more tuning power than you're gonna need.

I agree with you. I'm not a MS fan either. Motech, Haltech, AEM, HKS to name a few are the brands that most racers use. They have all progressed with 3d maps and sooo much more, where MS has not.

Re: Thinking of MoTec M600 for my ZE SC Project
MS DOES have 3d Mapping. Both Tunerstudio MS and MegaTunix do 3D mapping, and as for the fan problem, it cost $5.50 from diyautotune.com to fix this...
the main point is there isnt a need for a motec system, its not going to advance you any further than any of the lower priced systems and its literally just throwing money away.
Why would you spend 3k on a EMS? Especially since you could yield the same results with less money and have a system that is just as reliable.
To each his own... Excuse me while I go overnight parts from japan...

Re: Thinking of MoTec M600 for my ZE SC Project
I say if you can afford what you want and have the means go for it. YOU will enjoy it more in the end, and im guessing that if you picked that one your familiar with the company which helps a whole lot. So if it were me and I could afford it, I would get what would make me happy.
BTW, have you looked into how your going to keep your S/C bearing shaft cool enough/durable? I remember seeing a few people try that way before adapting to an a/c plate attachment due to frequent bearing failure.

Yeah, the pully is made from about 1/4inch steel. It should be good enough to dissapate the heat and i'm using 15000RPM bearings.
