Post by johnmx3ze »

im installing my awr mounts my front one is done... but that god damn rear mount!!!

how do i get the big bolt out?

anyways its way more easier with the engine out... but i dont really wanna take it out!

last time i changed the rear mount i just cut the bolt and replaced it with a new one and i put it in the other way around... but when i swapped my de i did not think about putting it the other way around...

so basicly i need to know how you guys do it?

Well, it's been some time since I had my mx, so maybe I'm talking nonsense here, but, couldn't you take the crossmember off? IIRC, it's only 4 bolts...

Hehe... no offense, but its kinda dumb to try and take off the nut welded to the bracket

Unless you mean that you can't actually get the bolt OUT, as in, it hits the A arm, yeah, thats a brilliant Mazda idea.

Yeah, in the J/Y car, I just dropped the motor, but on my own vehicle... I suggest taking the mount bracket off of the transmission. PITA, but easier than dropping the motor.

Sorry for Necro-ing an old thread, but at least I searched! I replaced my front mount with the AWR probe mount but couldn't get the bolt out for the rear mount. Is it safe to drop the engine an inch or two to remove the bolt? Hoses should flex a bit... But is there anything I need to disconnect before doing this? A detailed explanation on how you guys did this would be appreciated.

There is a huge improvement just replacing the front mount, especially since mine was missing a bolt and the rubber was completely shot. I'll post a picture later.

Oh boy, its been awhile since I tackled this.

Either drop the longitudinal member to roll the engine... wait, that doesn't really work.

Um, If you remove/loosen the DS trans mount, you should be able to drop it enough to squeeze it out. Just use an engine hoist, don't screw around. you'd also have to drop the longitudinal crossmember.

what i did is i cut thr bolt and replaced it... but when installing the replacement make sure you put it in so the nut is on the drivers side! slide in your bolt and put on the nut...

then youll never have a problem to remove it in the futur...

Yeah, good thing I replaced that. Feels so much better, especially off the line. Shifting is smoother too.
