Head bolts are 13mm. But make sure you get a 12 point socket.

Anytime.
Remember to clean up the threads in the block, and to lube the bolts before installing them (some people use engine oil, some grease. I use assembly lube, because I'm complicated... ), so friction won't throw your torque off.

Ideally, you should also replace the bolts, but, to be honest, I don't know if replacement bolts are even available...

the parts stores don't have them, and neither does the dealership, so I'm just gonna re-use the old ones. don't worry, I'll make sure it's all clean before it goes together.

I just found them here!

You sure? I have a B8, disassembled right besides my bed (yep...), and it has 13mm... I know it's weird, because Mazda doesn't use 13mm anywhere else, but I checked it with my sockets, and the 12mm doesn't fit...

I just tried them again, in case I had made a mistake, and, sure enough, I did... Sorry.

It's a 12mm. Thank you Ryan for correcting my mistake.
You should use a 12 pt. socket. It's much more torque accurate than a 6 pt. one.

The bolt is 12 pt. You shouldn't have any difficulty finding 12 pt. sockets.
If you can't find it at your nearest auto parts store, go to Harbor Freight, if you have one where you live. You'll have plenty to choose from.
