Need Lowering Speings - Any Recomendations?
Need Lowering Speings - Any Recomendations?
Ive done a little searching and this is what i found.
B+G: Front:1.6 Rear:1.6
Eibach: Front:1.5 Rear:1.2
H&R: Front 1.5 Rear:1.3
Suspesion Techniques: Front:1.3 Rear:1.3
Apex: Front:1.6 Rear:1.6
The prices range from $200 to $300 plus shipping etc.
Any recomendations? also.. anything more than 1.6? like around 2?
Also what kinda struts should i be looking to get eventually.?

Re: Need Lowering Speings - Any Recomendations?
i say 1.6 and the brand doesnt matter seriously. Your not a crazy racer guy are you??? see what i mean. When it comes to struts though, The better they are depends on how stiff u want them. How quick the dampening will be is your call. You can lower a car on new stock struts and it will be fine. I used KYB struts cause the dampen a lot quicker than stock and are a great price since you have to replace them every 3 years or so. My springs are ei-back which are also great.
I like my setup. It works well.

Re: Need Lowering Speings - Any Recomendations?
thanks mike.
I was just worried about 1.6 not being enough.. a friend of mine drives an EL, and he dropped his 2.5 and its just tuckin'
i wouldn't want to go any lower than he has his but i dont want to go any higher than what i am now.. I want to get low enough to eliminate the wheel gap
i got these springs but i'm not sure what they are..
Anyone have an idea?

are they orange or red? if there orange id guess b&g, if there red id say dropzone. for that much of a drop your going to want coil overs, which are very expensive.
the stock struts for the escort zx2 s/r are a good option alot of people use. there made by tokico and can be had for under $200. theres a bunch of guides around on how to make them fit.

Prepare for a very uncomfortable ride on harsh roads.

Re: Need Lowering Speings - Any Recomendations?
for springs, they..................will....................wear..........................OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol. So depending on how much cash you have make this project cost effective. Go to your local auto parts store and see what they have in stock. I got Ei bach (however its spelt) springs for 290$ and they are great! ALso, i got KYB struts for 60$ times 2 on fronts and 50$ times 2 on the rear ( i have a severly good buddy from high school that works there.........) . So anyway, in 2 years this stuff will wear out. I get to spend another 500$ after that cause i drive a lot in kelowna BC back roads.
A 1 inch drop actually lowers an mx-3 1.5 inches in actual height which will have wheel gap BUT!, it makes the wheel gap even all the way around which is my taste. I think too low is just as bad as too high??? But remember, thats my taste. So if u like low, go ahead.
Seriously, just think about my post then do what you want to do dude cause in the end, your mx-3 is all about you.

you'll love the ride quality to death. I noticed a huge difference. The only thing is, avoid rough roads.cWs306 wrote:I used KYB struts cause the dampen a lot quicker than stock and are a great price since you have to replace them every 3 years or so. My springs are ei-back which are also great.

Re: Need Lowering Speings - Any Recomendations?
if you want low and quality coils are your best option.
I have eibachs on tokico hp's. Great ride quality. Were I to do it again, I might go with K Sport coils. Then again, I don't drive my car in the winter and our roads are in good shape.
