Im going to swap my 1.6L 4banger for another engine...I have the money, tools, and friends with vast greater knowledge then I...therefore I'am left with just 2 options:
KL-ZE (2.5L V6)
OR
BPT (1.8L Inline 4 Turbo)
Both can be done, and yes I'm aware that the KL will requre much more then just the engine swap...
any body got any opinions???

BPT has more potential than the kl.
Or you can go bp than add the turbo.

if your willing to invest enough money id go with the bpt. if your not prepared to spend atleast $1500-$2000 in just turbo gear go with the ze.

Id take the BPT over the ZE any day. Or look into swapping the F2T (can't remember if that's the right engine code?) out of a 1st gen Probe GT/MX6 GT. That motor is beast.chrome730 wrote:go big or go home is what i say go with the 2.5

if it were me, BP, no brainer. if you want a ZE that badly, sell your 4 banger and get a GS.
work with what you have.

Re: Engine Swap...need opinions
thanks for the opinions...I must say i agree with the majority of you...I think im going BPT, money is not an issue. I love my car and have no problem spending money on things that bring me happyness
I also have the friends with the knowledge and experance in swaping engines so I will have lots of help along the way...
Now just need to locate a good BPT engine!

Re: Engine Swap...need opinions
That's a complicated question, and the answer depends, mostly, on what do you want it for.
Initially, I agree with RS, Mike and Ninjajim.
First, the BP has a lot more potential than the ZE. But that has a cost.
Second, you have to factor in the amount of money you're willing to put on it, both now, and in the future.
Third, if you want a ZE, it's probably gonna be much cheaper, in the end, to sell your 4 banger and get a GS, not to mention a lot easier to swap. And then you have a few extras, like the rear windshield wiper, and the sunroof.
That said, it all depends on what you want to do with your car. If you want it for street use exclusively, I'd go with the ZE, for many reasons:
First, because, out of the box, it has 20 HP more than the BPT.
Second, because, as cool as turbo engines are (with the sound, and everything), they're a b!tch to maintain, and a lot more unforgiving than a N/A engine. Not to mention that, when you get to a point where the BP starts making more power than the ZE (that is, when the turbo gets big enough), your power band starts to move up on the RPM range, to a point where it gets less and less useful for street use.
Third, because fixing and maintaining a N/A engine is WAAAAYYYYY cheaper than a turbo engine.
Fourth, because if your engine dies on you in the middle of nowhere, finding spare parts for a turbo may be a certified PITA.
But then, if you want to go racing, I'd get the BP. You can make a ton of power, and it's dirt cheap to replace (the engine), if it goes boom...
