Car shuts off while A/C is on and coming to a stop.

93 B6ME with 5-Speed tranny. When the a/c is running, I can be coming to a stop and the car is likely to shut off. If I am slowing down going into a turn and apply the brakes the car will turn off. What would cause this? If the a/c is off, there is not a problem whatsoever.

AC puts load on the engine.. your engine is a wuss and can't handle it. You can try to upgrade your ground wires and a basic tune up.

Keep in mind the car does not "shut off," it stalls. Big diff.

Adjusted throttle position sensor. Problem solved. However, upgrading to better ground wires may be in the near future too.

Then I pipe in and say yes your engine will stall out under 1k rpm with
any braking applied. Mine did with no AC and good compression across
all cylinders in the DOHC B6.

Well adjusting the tps was a cure all for this situation. No more stalls! And "IS NOT!!!"

my stalls sometimes too, even without the a/c on. Mostly it just idles so low the engine rocks the car. Is it the throttle position sensor I need to adjust? if so how? and is that different than adjusting the idle?

My car runs pretty rough while in gear with the A/C on. Taking it out of gear or killing the A/C smooths it right out. It's an auto, btw (hoping to fix that soon). It's never died but it does shake the car like godzilla was farting on it.
