corksport shortshifter problems

i bought a short shifter from corksport and i installed it today. Everything went well except when it was time to put the retaining spring back in. I don't know if the pivot ball is higher on this shifter but the spring seems to big to fit, i forced sooo hard and it still didnt fit in. Anyone that has this shifter give me some tips, driving without the spring sucks lol

I had to cut my spring down , and then bend the end of it to snap inside again
