this seems to me to be a fairly commen thing with mx-3's ive had the alignment done on both of mine and 30min down the road hit a corner sharp or hit a pothole and have my alignment get screwed up, not bad of course. but it happens

I did something like that where I curb checked on a high curb and shifted the rear part of the suspension, my rear right wheel was turned in a few degrees. I adjusted it to the best, just by looking at it, it still turns a tiny bit on the interstate but is fine during regular driving. I plan on taking it to an alignment shop after new struts go on.

my suspension was checked over by myself and mechanic all seems fine and he aligned it and it was ok kinda until i hit pot hole now pulls badly to left, it is not tyre pressure or worn tyres etc, i thought it might be brakes but he said they were fine too. but if i am stationery and pull wheel left then right there is a clonking noise under car coming through steering wheel

Get someone to help you, and pinpoint the noise. I would suspect strut bearings, or a broken spring.

Are all your suspension components tight? badly worn bushings, loose tie rod end, loose ball joint, loose wheel bearing, loose anything will cause issues. Kinda obvious, but lots of people don't think further than 'it goes faster when I press the little pedal'

If hitting the pot hole effected your alignment then you need to recheck all your front end components except the anti swap bars they don't effect your alignment. Check ball joints, lower control arms, tie rod ends and a biggy would be (no one thought of this) if your lower ball joint is suppose to be the large diameter shaft and someone installed a small diameter shaft ball joint your going to get movement but possibly not till some thing forces it to move like a ,,,,,pot hole. :)

Yes it's alignment. After you hit the pot hole your alignment got messed up again. Don't argue with someone that's trying to help you. The other possibility of why the steering wheel isn't straight is that your steering rack got damaged but that's highly unlikely. The noise is probably a whole other issue on it's own, probably a suspension part that needs to be replaced. Do that first and THEN go get an alignment.

You could have damaged an old, brittle bushing. If your mechanic is good, he can drive the car, and tell you what the problem is.
