KLZE into 4 cyl? or 4cyl into GS?
HERES A BACKGROUND TO THE QUESTION! IF YOU WANT TO SKIP EXPLANATION GO TO "THE REAL QUESTION" BELOW
ok i tried to search the forum for some useful information but this is what i got "Search term used: klze into a 4 cylinder ignored: klze into a 4" so im thinkin im not gonna find anything useful with those results haha
anyways, i own a GS right now that i have a KLZE in (my second one, 1st seized :/) and this one just blew something, white smoke and one of my cylinders is getting now compression where the other 5 are at like 220 so anyways i started looking for an MX3 to drive in the meantime (also because the body on mine isnt in the best shape so the plan was to buy another nicer looking MX3 drive it stock while i rebuild the KLZE and swap later).
i hope im not confusing. so to continue. i found one someones selling right down the street however! its unfortunately a 4 cylinder but looks pretty good from what i saw. it does have some problem where supposedly it wont come out of 4th? idk im going to look at it tomorrow and ill find more out. but before i go look at it i wanted to ask

will i be able to swap the KLZE into the 4cyl? (if so how hard is it and what will i need etc.) and if not would i be able to swap over the transmission from my KLZE to the 4 cylinder? (again how hard and so on) i read a little about it but i couldnt really understand if someone has some first hand knowledge of either swap (engine or tranny) that would be helpful.
I'm trying to stay loyal to the MX3 but so many issues (3rd blown engine, partly my fault i know) and so much money have me leaning towards honda or toyota :/ please help these insecurities go away haha

Why not drop a ZE in a GS, or a BPT in a RS?
Youll need the motor/tranny mounts for the motor you want to use, and the V6 harness for the ZE/I4 harness for the BP.

Took the bp+t out of the mx and swapped it into a 95 escort wagon.

i already have the KLZE in my GS and the one im looking at is a 4cyl. I can't find any in my area or really at all that are GS's and theyre a little pricey. I can get this 4cyl for like 400-500$ so i figured i might as well. But i want to have at least one drivable car and right now my KLZE engine is blown but has a good tranny and his tranny is supposedly no good but his engine is.
So what would anyone recommend i do to come out having a drivable car and be fairly easy? im open to all ideas

4 cylinder uses a different tranny so no you cant just swap it in and use it with the 4 banger. gs has rear disc's and better suspension then the rs. if you already have a gs you should have all the parts you need to drop the ze into the rs.
you will need to bring over the wiring harness, ecu and motor mounts from the gs. motor/tranny mounts would be the hardest part involving welding them onto the frame. i think its been done before. keep trying with search.

so it's a direct bolt in? what things do i need to change? (wiring harness? axles? brakes? idk im lost on this one) thanks for the help so far guys

if thats the case it should be just pretty much plug and play. you dont need to swap the rear breaks or suspension to put the ze in itd be better for performance. wiring harness and ecu would be the main things i know of.No fabrication/welding is required to swap the K8/KL into the RS engine bay, if that's what you meant.

what motor are you swapping over to the 4 cyl.......you said it was blown.

he wants to rebuild the ze and throw it in rs. in the meantime he wants to run gs tranny on 4 cyl

you'd be better off shooting yourself in one foot, than walking without a limp.
Damn near everything from the GS bay needs to be moved to the RS. Check out the worklogs, as there is a member doing this as we speak.

Hey your in boston, I have a wrecked GS im parting. It has like $1500+ in receipts from a rebuild. And I have the whole k8 motor/harness, but the front of the car is wrecked.
