changing my first disty

Post by atomic froster »

so i picked up a new disty last week and im going to be installing it this weekend, solo_ryder gave me so great advise on swapping it and other parts, but when i looked at the new one where the bolts go through to hold it in place there is about and inch and a half left to right. how do i know where it should be?

Either by marking the position of the bolts on the head from the old disty (or taking a mental note) - and installing the new disty in the same spot

But the most accurate way to set it is with a timing light

Yeah. I always mark things the best I can before taking them off, AND I take a few pictures on my phone. If you get it close, your ECU will set the timing for you. In fact, I tried to advance my timing a lonog time ago, but the ECU would keep it at 10° no matter where I set the disty.
