I want to do some work to my car

Post by TrevorTheGallant »

I'd like some input on what I should do to obtain the sexiest possible sound for my MX-3 KL-ZE. I was searching around on YouTube one day and found this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fWsILsFnsZg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;), and if I were to take that route, how would one go about doing it, what all do i need... I'm pretty much a beginner at this so try and take it easy on me, lol

The answer I was more or less looking for was what do YOU think. What is YOUR opinion. That link was an example. Like different brand names, why would you go for one brand and not another.

Best setup for a ze sound wise:

Headers - ssautochrome or equivalent
2.25" or 2.5" piping - mandrel bent
NO catalytic convertor
Big a-- resonator - 16-22"
A good muffler like magnaflow

The cat creats raspiness in the exhaust, I noticed this right when I went from no cat to installing a stock then a hi flow. If you are in a region of bc that has no aircare... Run no cat

read this... http://www.mx-3.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=41096" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

the highest flow = the best performance which typically equals the best sound depending on what you want. the more bends or items (cats, resonator, muffler) restrict flow and change the sound/performance. however no exhaust running straight off the motor is a bad idea...

Mine is THE best, for sure, Hands down, no questions asked, all the way.

J/K!
But in my opinion, it is the best all around exhaust considering sound, and flow. It is Pacesetter long tube headers with a ball and socket joint instead of a flex pipe, FlowMaster Hushpower muffler, 2¼" piping covered in exhaust wrap & Aluminum tape, and 1 mandrel bend to a side exit, just before the rear wheel with a 3" tip I made to in the airflow, for a venturi effect.
There is a video of it in a similar recent thread. It sounds loud in the vid, because it's in a small room. I believe it is worth around 15 HP over stock on my setup.
